ROLE OF MICROCLIMATE DURING INCUBATION OF SILKWORM EGG:
ALEMKUMZUK Assistant Sericulture Officer.
The climate which includes temperature, humidity, air and light has great influence of embryonic development. Hence, the dissection of embryo is necessary to confirm the embryonic stage of development preserving them under proper condition.
The various activities involves in
Sericulture result in employment at the rate of 13 persons/ha/year out of which
60% to women because of nature of work involved in the industry such as
harvesting of leaves, rearing of Silkworm, spinning or reeling of silk yarn and
weaving which can be done by old aged women and young girl child staying at
village during day time when the men folk went out for different activities.
This enhanced role of rural women in Sericulture is significant since it is in
contrast to other agricultural or agro-based provision, where the participation
of women is comparatively lower. This higher proportion of women participation
has so far being a natural and self regulated phenomenon in Sericulture.
Therefore appropriate intervention and assistance can act a new dimension to
this and expand the option for available for improving the status of a woman in
family enterprises. As part of such intervention in our country, during 1989-93
the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India included various
programmes such as National Sericulture Project, Catalytic Development Programme
etc. a special component of assistance to women and NGO’s.d eggs and irregular hatchings.
